Default Image Stabalisation

Hello All

I have read that if you are useing a tripod you should get better pictures if you turn off any image stabalisation you have.

Does anyone know what the theory is behind this?

from what I understand, the lens will search for movement, if it can't find any, it will make some,, I shot this flower, I forgot to turn the IS off on one, turned it off after I discovered it was on, I think they speak for themselves, Oh,, the flower is called "Naked Broomrape" wildflower. DAve

I would leave it on then,, as you can't hold it perfectly still like on a tripod. DAve
