Default Help me! :( Ugly greenish/blue glare!

Ever since I got my 50mm, I've been getting these ugly ugly glares. You can see them on the left guys torso.

I have a Nikon D40. It only does it with my 50mm. What's the problem?

Where? I don't see anything. Although, the whole image looks fairly gray and low-contrast...

Also, what do you mean by "glare"? Lens flare?

This one should be more obvious.

Yep, looks a lot like flare to me. In both photos, the subjects seem to have a bright background -- are you shooting into the sun?

Yes. I always shoot towards the sun but my 50mm does this RANDOMLY. None of my other lenses do this. Help me? Half of these wedding photos are RUINED!

Don't shoot towards the sun! (Why do you do that?)

All lenses will flare, but it appears that this one is more susceptible -- or you're using it in more extreme circumstances, or you don't have a lens hood. At any rate, the easy solutions are:

- Stop shooting into the sun
- Use a lens hood

Also, what lens exactly is it? What manufacturer and exact specification? (speed, any special letters in the name, etc.)

A lens hood would help? Neat.

It's a Nikkor 50mm f/1.8

A lens hood will help, but more so if the sun is off to the side a bit. In the second shot it looks like the sun was right behind the couple and right in front of you. So I'm going to have to say that the suggestion to not shoot into the sun (or at least not so directly into the sun) will be more helpful.

The second one is also out of focus, but that's another issue.

Are you using a (cheap) filter, by any chance?

That can be a major factor.
