Default What do you get in RAW?

When shooting in RAW are there any camera settings that effect RAW other than ISO, aperture and shutter speed? When shooting film, compensations will effect the negative, correct? Is it the same for RAW? If not what determines the parameters of the picture?

Sorry if this is covered elsewhere but could not find it in a search. Very new to digital photography and not that experienced in film either, so be gentle with me in my ignorance .

Thanks,
Chris

All exposure settings effect RAW in some way there not as critical though to the final image as with film negative. The things that dont effect a RAW file are Colour Profiles and White Balance (unless its a really funky white balance)

This is going to be nerdy now be warned lol. All a RAW file does is capture a higher dynamic range, which is basically a scale of light from so much darkness to so much lightness and your exposure decides what this scale is. This is then translated into brightness levels in a digital image. The Interesting part is the whole dynamic range of a RAW file cant be seen on an LCD monitor or Paper so when using software what your doing is selectively compressing the Dynamic Range hence the ability to push and Pull exposure in RAW files to a certain degree well as much as the dynamic range covers. GEEK BIT ENDED!!
