Default sports photography question

What is the best format for boxing photography? RAW or JPEG?

Also, which format has a good quality for printing?

Thank you. I much appreciate your replies.

It depends on your camera. If you're going to be using burst mode, you may be better off shooting JPG because you'll have a higher framerate and the buffer will clear faster. Higher end cameras -- 7D, 5DMkII -- shoot RAW bursts acceptably fast and have high throughput with fast memory cards, but further down the line you'll find RAW really slowing you down for action sports.

I think raw would be best. but you are right bout the frame rates. I guess its a dcision of quality (raw) or quantity (jpg)

Framerate doesnt change: the buffer clearing time does. That's all.

Canon EOS 1000D / Rebel XS Review: 3. Specifications: Digital Photography Review
• Continuous: 3.0 fps JPEG to card capacity
1.5 fps for 5 RAW frames or 4 RAW+JPEG

Depends on the camera. This is mainly true for older cameras, my 300D shoots much slower in RAW. Maybe I shouldn't have said "higher end" cameras; most DSLRs these days won't suffer, but consumer-end models will fill the buffer quickly.

The point is, while the general wisdom is "always shoot RAW", like anything general it's not automatically true always.
