Default College Basketball...tips on lighting please

This is my first attempt to shoot an indoor college basketball game. I used only my D3 and 85 f/1.4 wide open, iso 2500, with aperture priority set to 1.4. I used auto WB which yielded OK results. I was able to remove most of the yellow saturation in PP. Any tips or hints would be greatly apprciated. Thanks.

Finally, here's a shot from the Lady Aztecs, former National Champs! Great game, but they lost by 3.

Moved to technique. Please don't post multiple images in critique.

My apologies. Guess I don't understand the difference in technique and critique if I was looking for critique of these shots.

The third seems the best as far as color goes, there still seems to be a bit too much orange going on in the others. You've got some good action captured. I might crop the girls' shot a little more. Sometimes, I will play with the K settings for WB, especially when I am at the game early enough to take test shots on the other games before my son plays.

You were looking for critique on your technique, not on subject/style. At least I think.

The shots are great: very warm though. Are you shooting RAW or jpg? I'd also be worried about the DoF being too shallow at f/1.4.

Thanks, Lori. Here's the latest version. I reduced the orange saturation using Lightroom.

Have you tried using the eyedropper in Lightroom for white balance? (basically, click on the eyedropper, then sample something in the photo that should be white/gray). That tends to get me into the ballpark, and then adjusting the temperature from there with the sliders to taste.

I wouldn't use the saturation sliders for this kind of correction.

Well...you learn something new everyday!! I never noticed that dropper! I tried it and it seems to be a shortcut to running all the other sliders! Thanks!

That certainly looks much better. Yes, that little dropper is a great tool.
