Default Taking Pictures in Snow

It is actually snowing in Virginia Beach today, which is really odd for this area, I thought it was a perfect photo opportunity, but as a beginner I am lost on what settings to use on my camera. Any suggestions? I have a Canon Rebel Xs EOS.
thanks!
Jessica

You should push your exposure by 1 to 2 stops for the snow to be white since the cameras metering system will read to make the white 18% gray.

Shoot in raw not jpeg as well, more room to adjust later if you don't nail the exposure.

Someone once told me to set the white balance to cloudy ... is this good advice?
