i would like to buy a good quality light and stable tripod, but it is clear that the full movement of the swivel screen is always going to be restricted in the nikon d5000.
surely there is a tripod that restricts less than more? any suggestions? |

I recently (thank you santa) aquired a Manfrotto 190XPROB Tripod With 322RC2 Head.
The 322RC2 Head can be reformatted to 3 different camera positions. Whilst you may not eliminate all swivel restriction you may get some movement. I picked one up from ebay and saved about $120 vs buying from local camera shop. Attached link has good description particularly ref the head. Manfrotto 190XPROB Tripod With 322RC2 Head & 190 Bag - eBay Complete Tripods, Tripods, Tripods Supports, Cameras Photo. (end time 28-Jan-10 05:26:54 AEDST) Personally speaking I belive using the view finnder achives a better result than the screen - but eact to their own Z |

Go to a good camera store that has the heads on display. Try them out. Thats the only way to guarantee that it fits properly.

I use a 322RC2 Head and have no problem with my D5000.
