I'm looking for a download for a free photoediting software. Something thats not overly complicated, but still decent. My computer is a PC. I used to use the photobucket editor, but I want something better. I've heard things about a "GIMP". I dont know anything about it, can anyone explain it to me? or suggest other software? thanks,
Eaglesfan

The Gimp is indeed a 100% free Photoshop replacement. Being a Photoshop replacement, it's "full featured" -- meaning, lots and lots of options. It may fall into the "overly complicated category", but you should give it a try.
Go to the site I linked. Among other things, there are TONS of tutorials on commonly used procedures. Here is a list.

GIMP is awesome but it also gets a little confusing for a lot of people.
Why not check out Picnik - Photo editing the easy way, online in your browser for a free online photo editor that does most of the basic tricks that you are likely to use? I love it.

GIMP is probably most powerful and more fully featured compared to Photoshop, but I also like Picasa. I use Photoshop, but also use Picasa for quick edits and uploads...You can even apply a simle watermark.

There are only two programs I would consider.
paint.net if you want something fairly light for basic editing. GIMP if you want functionality closer to Photoshop. I would suggest you just get GIMP and brave the learning curve. It's very powerful and you will eventually want that power. I would suggest staying away from browser-based software. The reasons start from what you do if you don't have a connection. |

I would suggest gimp...i use it aloot...and for any questions you have about it, you can almost find any kind of tutorial about it on youtube. Hope this helps
BTW...when i had first downloaded it, it looked verrry confusing, so confusing i even uninstalled it. Then i saw what u could do with it and installed it again to my computer. You just have to get used to it. |

Try Picasa which will do photo management for you as well.
Cheers
