Default SB-800 vs. SB-600

SB-800 for $375 vs. SB-600 for $250. Both new. I'm deciding which to get to use with my D90. My question is what can the SB-800 do that the SB-600 can't?

SU-4 mode, for starters. CLS commanding. More power. PC port. 1/128th power setting. Non-TTL auto mode, repeating mode, -7° tilt, able to use an external battery pack...

Lots of stuff. Whether you need that stuff is a different issue.

Thanks inkista! Just the summary I was looking for. Now I can research these and determine if any of them are worth $125 to me.

If I were in the market, these three features would make the SB-800 more attractive to me than the SB-600: power, PC port, external battery pack. Then again, I only paid $125 for my last flash.

How can both be new -- they stopped making the SB800 quite a while ago. BTW you can pick up good used SB600 units for around $150.

I'm sure there are plenty of small shops that still have one or two in their inventories.

It's new, but not in a store. I know a guy that sent a damaged one in for repair and they sent a brand new one back. He hasn't used it once since getting it.
