Default Need a good tripod

I need a good tripod in the $100-$200 range. The one I have is a craptacular $50 one that is begging for a one way ticket to the landfill.

I'm going to stop by Best Buy and look at this one tomorrow. Sounds pretty decent for the money.

I can't find anywhere that tells me how much weight this tripod will support. This information is important to me, because my gear can weigh up to about 11 pounds. I need a tripod that will support this amount of weight.

BUT, if you feel, after looking at it, that it fits your needs, then buy it. From what I could find out in my quick search, it seems to be a decent tripod.

Good point. I can't even find on their website what the weight limit is
Any suggestions on a decent one in this price range?

Thanks!

I've got a couple tripods. The one I use most is a Slik 700DX tripod, with a Bogen / Manfrotto 488RC4 ball head. Cost was $85 for the legs, and $113 for the head.

This set will hold, I think around 25 pounds. It's took a beating too, this is the set I always use for outside shooting.

It's far from light weight thou.

I too have the Slik 700DX and it is awesome . I don't have the ball head and works just fine . A bit on the heavier side but is extremely well made and sturdy ! No fears of this baby tipping over and smashing my camera . Highly recommend it if your looking for a sturdy unit for about $140 . Got mine through Amazon / Adorama ...had it in two days

Great reviews on it ...and I can see why !
