Default Flashing...

I am looking to at long last buy a new flash. While doing my normal prepurchase research I found a couple different brands and models that would fit my needs. I am however reluctant to purchase a different brand other then that of my Camera. So I wonder. What brand flash do you use? Are you happy with it?

It more depends on what you are going to use it for.

Cat photography may require a full Alienbees set up. Think about it.

Mainly as fill lighting. shooting from shadows to higher light situations. Possibly more, but for now that would be the main function for anything I buy.

When I initially bought my XTi, I also bought a 430 EX flash. I've just now purchased a 530 EX II. I like that I will be able to use the ETTL functionality if I so desire which is why I stayed brand specific.

That's the way I am leaning, but that being said not only for the price point but some of these other flashes have some nice features.
