Nikon 50mm f/1.8 D AF Lens Question

I know the Nikon 50mm f/1.8 D AF Lens should fit my D60 but that AF doesn't work (which I am fine with) but do the other CPU features such as metering work?

Yes.

edit: As long as you set the aperture ring to the smallest aperture (largest f-number, I think f/22 for that lens) and let the camera control the aperture. If you change the aperture ring, you'll get an fEE error, and no metering.
