Default Mamiya 645

Wasn't sure where to put this, so sorry if its the wrong place. I was recently given an old Mamiya 645 camera. I of course have no earthly idea how to use it ;-) but will be googling ;-) I do have a question though, it has a 45mm 2.8 lens with it, looks to be in fair condition...can I get an adapter and put that on my 520? Would i want to? From the little research I've done, it appears to be a nice lens?

a 45mm lens? Wow, that's wide on a 645. equivalent to about a 28mm on 35mm. They're not cheap.

That's what it says ;-) Sekor, 45 mm, C, if that makes any diff. Kind of a neat deal for me...this guy is 86 yrs old, has done everything in the world. He told me at one time he got heavy into photography (says he was the family photog for Willie Nelson ;-) He was a fighter pilot durning WWII, Not sure what all else he's done...He's one of the best sheep and cattle dog handlers in the nation. He won the nat. cattle dog finals last year at 86, pretty amazing....anyway he and I are buds, and he told me a few weeks ago, that he had a bunch of old cameras, and he wanted me to have them. He said there were some German ones, and some others...The Mamiya was the first one he got cleaned up and brought to me. He's rather a well...a mess LOL most of the time he looks like a homeless person...so I can imagine the cameras will be in need of some dusting off to say the least. I must say though, I'm sure interested/excited to see what else he has. The biggest thing for me though, is although I love old stuff like that, I'm actually honored that he would consider me for taking his cameras, and the fact that they came from him, well it means a lot to me. I'm trying to get him to find me some pics that he's taken, I'd really be interested in seeing his work.

They'll likely be totally incompatible. IIRC the diameter of the mount is larger on the Mamiya than on the Olympus.

wow! What a nice gift!

maybe search for an adapter? I know there are adapters to use Mamiya lenses on Canon's, maybe you could find one to suit your needs.

I'd love to see his camera stash!
