I have the D5000 and 18-55mm VR Lens. Looking to get an additional lens but not sure what to get?
I found this lens listed used for $150. Nikon 55-200mm f4-5.6G ED AF-S DX Nikkor Zoom Lens Is it worth getting or would it be better to save up for something with VR? Any advice on what my next lens should be? Thanks in advance for the help! |

One tip to get sharp pictures hanheld is to set your shutterspeed equal to 1/focal lenght.
Therefore if you are at 200mm, you should be at least 1/200 sec. The problem with this lens is that your aperture at 200mm is f/5.6. This is not really fast. You won't have any issues if you shoot in the afternoon but without VR, forget pictures of the kids inside without a flash. The price seems interesting but I would definitly get VR. I was able to get some nice exposure at 1/60 sec with my 70-300mm VR @ 300m f/5.6. Without it, it wouldn't have been possible and this was during a singing show my son was doing. My 2 cents
