Default Issues with Lightroom 2.5

I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the correct category, but here goes.

Yesterday I updated my Lightroom version to 2.5 and it is having ISSUES! I have an HP laptop with Vista 64 bit OS and 6 gig of RAM. I've been trying to work on a set of only about 80 pictures, and Lightroom is moving like molasses. I'm doing basic RAW adjustments like exposure, fill light, clarity and my computer memory usage is really high, everything moving very slowly. (Task manager says that physical memory is 70% or more and CPU usage jumps from very low to 90-100%.) This set of images needs spot removal on every one and that is when the program practically grinds to a halt. I'll click the tool...wait...wait...get the circle icon to show up...need to adjust size....drag arrow to make it larger...wait...wait...(I can't see the adjustment as I drag)....click to fix the spot...nothing....wait to see where the spot will be taken from....wait...wait...need to adjust the placement and I can't see any incremental movement. Then it will just go CRAZY and jump to a totally bizarre spot on the picture that has no relation to where I actually clicked for the spot removal. It's taking forever just to get some simple editing done. I don't have time for this!!!!

I have tried closing Lightroom and restarting my computer twice. I'm not even running any other programs at the same time. Is anyone else having these issues? My main question is, can I go back to version 2.3? If so, how? (I'm not a techie -- very much a computer "operator", if that makes any sense.) I did go to 2.4 a couple of months ago and it seemed to run slower than 2.3, so I thought maybe going up to 2.5 would help. Wrong. When I was running 2.3 I seem to remeber that I could flip from picture to picture without getting pixelated previews, but that went away with 2.4. Now this latest version is just riduculous. Help!

Maybe I should also mention: I have the disk for the straight up 2.0 version, but I actually first installed the program from Adobe's website when it was at version 2.3. I don't think I should go all the way back to 2.0, should I??? Would I have to uninstall the program first?

i have also upgraded to 2.5 via a download. I am not experiencing what you describe. I am running vista 32bit.
I did have an issue after I installed the codec that allows explorer to view .nef files. My hard drive would run non-stop after importing and catologing. I deleted the codec and the drive activity is back to normal.

I have had no problems with 2.5, but every once in a while there are problems on some computers. Just think with all the permutations of possible hardware it is really amazing that computers work as well as they do. I think Ver 2.6 just came out, why not try that instead. Could your disk drive be badly fragmented? What about a virus or trojan?

I think 2.2 or 2.3 was very buggy, it has gotten better with the recent upgrades for me.

I have occasionally experienced the same symptoms that you describe. My fix is that I do something else, then come back later and Lightroom runs smooth. I haven't tried to figure out what is causing the problem, but I know it goes away in a relatively short time.

I've come across a similar problem a few times with Lightroom 2.5, it's usually fixed after I optimize the catalog.
