ML-L3. RF would be better, but it also wouldn't be $15.

why wouldn't it be $15? any other ideas?

is there really a difference in most remotes? is there one that is "superior" to another? is there even a wide range of selection? the problem i seem to be having with my 3rd party remote is that it seems to only let me take a few shots, and then the remote just quits working, and i ahve to keep switching between 2 batteries. and YES, i have checked the settings on my camera, because i know you can specify how long to use the remote before the camera automatically defaults back to normal shutter release.

I have the ML-L3 and it works just fine for me with my D60. The downside is that it is IR, which requires line-of-sight, and the IR sensor is on the front of the camera. If all I ever used the remote for was self-portraits, a front-mounted IR sensor would be fine. Insofar as I use the remote to keep the camera steady for long-exposure shots, I'd prefer having a sensor, say, on the back or the side of the camera. So, for the D60 at least, using an RF sensor would be great. But RF costs more than IR, presumably because the technology is more expensive. *Shrug*

You're right, it'd be $17.95 (or 14.83 at the link you posted)

I don't know why people bother with cheap knockoffs when the real deal is THIS cheap.

The D60 doesn't (IIRC) have a port for the wired remote Nikon makes, which is great for alot of stuff that the wireless isn't good for. I have both for my D80.

thanks guys, i may check out the wired ones, though i do think i need a new IR one.

the reason i cheaped out and went for the 3rd party IR one was because i saw it on ebay with FREE SHIPPING, lol. if i recall correctly i couldn't find one online with reasonable shipping (under $25) and every single store i went to didn't carry remote shutters!

but, my town just had a london drugs open up, and rumor has it, they'll order in ANYTHING you request!

Where in Canada are you? There are several canada-wide chains of camera stores that should carry this kind of thing, or at least be able to order it.

I Went to buy one here in Australia, and couldn't find it for less that about $40. I ended up buying a $3 knockoff from dealextreme, and its absolutely awesome... the range is fantastic, and its got enough throw to bouce the IR around the room, giving it the feel of a proper wireless controller - assuming my d40x had wireless of course
