Default Looking for a new scanner

My current scanner is about 10 years old. I have to double-check, but I think it may not be scanning with as good a quality as I would like. (Colours may be a bit faded - again I have to double check, but I wasn't happy with the results) I also have to double check the bit depth and scanning resolution.

Now, my main goal is that I want to digitize all my old photos. I have about 10 photo albums from before I got my first digital camera 8 years ago. I don't want to ever have to do this again. I want to digitize them so if anyone wants reproductions now or at any time in the future it will be just as good as getting prints from the negatives. This is, of course, important because photographs and negatives degrade. Digital bits (unless you get deep into it) do not degrade. And I have insane levels of backups. (Twice to DVD, two different hard drives, and one hard drive at my brother's house in case my house burns)

I'm trying to decide between:
Canon | CanoScan LiDE 200 Flatbed Scanner | 2924B002 | B&H Photo
and
Canon | CanoScan 8800F Flatbed Scanner | 2168B002 | B&H Photo

anyone have experience with those?

Thanks!

Do you have the negatives from the photos?

If you can, a negative scanner is better than scanning prints.

So I looked and the one I have now is lightening the photos a bit. Other than that, it's a much lower DPI than those scanners.
