Default Just ordered some new glass! Tokina 12-24

Very excited! It's the Mark II so will AF with my D40. I've got an urban landscape project for my photography course so can't wait to get this and get out snapping.

Was also tempted by the Sigma 10-20, but all the tests seem to agree that the Tokina is sharper, and I decided that was more important than the extra 2mm to me.

Can't wait!

Thinking about changing my order! I'll have to do it first thing tomorrow before they send it out - might go for the Tokina 11-16 f2.8 instead. I have the 17-55 kit lens so wondering if I am just overlapping too much with the 12-24.

Also would really like the wider aperture. It won't AF with my D40 but I'm thinking of upgrading my body next year, and apparently the DOF is greater with a wider lens anyway so MF shouldn't be as hard.

Eek, 10 hours to decide

Obviously I am biased toward the Sigma because I have one. It IS sharp! Plus, those extra mm's do make a difference. It's up to you, though. I might recommend going to a local camera store and trying out both lenses if at all possible. Just so you can get a feel for both of them.

I think if I had to do it over again, I'd do the same thing! Can't wait to see your photos with it!

I just got the Tokina 12-24! Its a fun lens, definitely an adjustment for the new composition but it's fun!

Post some pictures when it arrives, and enjoy it!
