I have a few lenses for my Canon Rebel the 2 kit lenses and a Quantaray 18-200mm which is the one I use almost exclusively. So last night I went out side to take a shot of the moon over the mountain range. With my naked eye the moon was perfectly huge and well really spectacular.
So I fired off a couple of shots where the range and moon where just where I wanted them. Everything came out perfect except... The distance/size everything was much smaller that what I was seeing with my naked eye. I tried zooming in and either I lost the range or obtained the same results. My thoughts are that I am using the wrong lens, but have < no clue as to what I should be looking for to take these types of shots. Any help would be great. |

You really need 400mm or longer to get decent moon shots. Take a look at the "How I Shoot the Moon" thread in the "How I Took It" forum.

Thanks for the information I wasn't really look for super close up shots more like the shot in the posting with the Church and moon. I want to see the moon and the mountains at the same time like I do with my naked eyes.
However, I am going to try the shots with my 300mm lense |
