Angry Focus - Help!

I use a Rebel XSI and a Canon 24-105mm L IS USM lens and I find it very hard to get clear pictures inside! I have a little photo studio, lots of lighting and umbrellas too. If I am close to the subject they are really clear but when I back away they are really fuzzy. I shoot in large and raw together. I have tried shooting in normal, portrait, AV and manual modes, many ways and still most are terrible. The last photoshoot I did I set the focus point on the persons face and then moved the camera down to capture their entire body - again fuzzy. I need help!! Please.

What aperture are you using? If I use too big of an aperture (low number), my pics are fuzzy. Try using a smaller aperture for a larger depth of field.

I don't see any photo to critique here. Moving on.

exactly

and they're probably not out of focus. but rather out of the depth of field. drop down the f/stop to give you more dof to play with.
