I would never use non-Nikon parts, especially batteries, and especially from big-discount retailers in HK.

Until very recently, batteries were batteries, simple Li-On cells, Canon has changed that with the 5DMkII and Nikon may have changed it in some of their newer cameras. None of them are made by Nikon or Canon, they're all made by some company in taiwan or china. why not get them from the source? I have 2 Canon Batteries, and 2 HK batteries, been using them for a year, so far, I can't tell the difference. Check amazon.com for reviews of the particular brand you're using, if they're not absolute crap, they'll work fine. BTW my canon batteries are ~$50, HK, ~$10.
Where I wouldn't skimp is the UV filters, I learned my lesson there, putting a non-quality coated filter on negates any anti-glare/flare coatings your lens has. I still have at least one of these filters, and when I need to shoot a night scene with bright lights, I just have to take it off... I would also be wary of counterfeit memory, although the profit margin is so low on the 2GB cards that I doubt you have to worry.
