Default Additional Flashes...

Okay since you guys were so great at answering my lens question I thought I would get some flash help...(can you tell I am working on a Christmas list )

I want to get an additional flash I have a Nikon d60. Since I don't have a compatible sync camera would I be just as good getting a non-Nikon flash?

I am thinking the SB600 or the Promaster 7200.

Then if I want to use it off the camera and on a stand they both still have the ability to red-eye (and please correct my lingo here...) and flash off my flash. With a $100 price difference I am leaning towards the Promaster, but please steer me in the right direction.

The SB-600 will not fire off camera with just your D60. It will if you use an SB-800, 900 or SU-800 on your D60, or with an SU-4 remote unit. There's also a number of other solutions to firing flashes off-camera.

I'd personally stick to Nikon flashes, but that's just how I am. I'd rather spend the extra ~$80 on the SB-600, and probably make it back if I ever sold it.
