Default Raw pp

Well, I'm reading a book about CS4 and one of the chapters deals with RAW images.
I know shooting RAW is a sensitive subject and one of debate but from what I'm reading shooting in RAW allows for some pretty flexible PP, more that shooting in JPG. Am I understanding it right.

What has been your experience?

I'm going to an air show tomorrow and I'm planning on shooting RAW+JPG. The jpgs are for my finace. It's easier to give her a copy in that format. Then I can play with the RAW.

Thanks
R.

When I first got my DSLR I was shooting RAW+JPG but now I'm doing RAW only. I found myself wasting way too much time deciding which one looked better. I then realized that I only saw a difference if I looked at them next to each other.

I would almost go as far as saying to not even bother post processing the JPG. Sure you can do some, but the data hidden in RAW files is just amazing sometimes.

I've heard people on here say that they shoot RAW+JPG if a client wants a copy immediately. They give them the JPGs, and give the processed from RAW files later on.

Ok question.
Took some pictures at the airshow today in RAW and JPG. Why is there a color difference between the RAW image and the exact same pictuer but in the JPG format? is it because RAW has more color information?

I would like to post the images but the RAW image is too big.

The colors in the jpg image seems darker, deeper more instense.
