Default Best mobile phone camera?

I need to replace my broken mobile phone. I have a Samsung G600 which allegedly has a 5mp camera but has only produced appalling photos. Awful! If there is a genuinely good camera phone out there I would consider upgrading or changing to get it. I am not fussed about internet etc - I can be away from email for a few hours at least! I often carry a point and shoot so not end of world but in an emergency (ie want to take photo and don't have a camera to hand...) it would be nice to have a reasonable camera if poss. Thanks

Anita

I've found that the camera on my iPhone is quite good, however, my only knock is that there is no zoom feature.

This is an example of the quality:

The blur on the top, is actually my finger...oops

Best mobile phone camera I ever had was on my LG Viewty, they do a new 8 mp one now, it also filmed in widescreen as well. The Samsung G800 I had before that was pants but the sony erricson K800i cybershot I had before that was also very good, but the viewty peed all over it!

I uploaded a few piccies for you to see what I mean.

LG Viewty 1

LG Viewty 2

LG Viewty 3

As far as I know, Nokia N82 is one of the best out there. It has been made to rival the Sony-Erricson K850i and it beats the hell out of it. You can read the review (together with sample photos) here:

I must say...for a cell phone (and many P&S's) that's some pretty impressive shots.

I was actually pretty impressed with my BlackBerry Curve. I wasn't expecting much at all, but it's pretty decent.

The iPhone is probably the best camera phone at the moment.

The BlackBerry cameras are fine indoors, but once you get outside the underexpose like nobodies business and tend to make extraordinarily flat images.

I would have to disagree with that last statement I have the iphone and the camera is pants.

The new viewty KC910 and the sony C905 are the best out there at the moment, I have use both of them and the pee all over the iphone and are both 8 megapixels, the iphone is only 3 megapixels. I opted for the iphone on my latest upgrade only because I wanted the gadjet side of it and ended up regretting my decision, and ended up having to buy a small point and click (I have the Sony T500).

Also to add I trial ran a Nokia N82 and thought it was ok for outdoor shots but awful for inddor shots and the Sony I had peed all over it for both.

I find the major drawback to the iphone is they have to have the shutter speed set at around 1/30th or something like that. If you don't hold it extra still the image is going to blur.
I suppose a slow shutter speed is the only way to get light into the camera.

I have a Blackberry Curve and the camera on it is pretty good for a phone. I was a little surprised, actually.
