Default Portable battery-powered srobe light

Hi there,
I do a lot of outdoors photography, mainly beach and local outdoors and wanted to purchase a lightunit that I can bring on location...Since there is no electrical plug on beaches, it would have to be something battery powered..:-)

Any suggestions? What do you use when shoting outdoors? I try to use as much natural light as possible and try to use my speedlite 430 EXII only when necessary. I was told though that a portable light would give another quality to my pictures...

Thanks a lot,
Sabina

Why not use your speedlight(s) off-camera? No additional equipment to lug around or learn, just need some triggers and Voila!

I use three speedlites, one 580EX-II on-camera as the master, and two 430EX's off camera. Works like a charm. Check Strobist to get going ;-)

all you need is something like these
(google them)

Cactus V4 (cheap)
Cyber Sync (a bit better)
Pocket Wizards (the best i know if.. and priced accordingly)

ans whats more if you work in manual mode and off camera you can use any flash.. Nikon, Canon or otherwise.

i use three flashes off camera with Cactus V4's
