Default A good upgrade idea?

So, I've been really considering a lens upgrade in the relatively near future. My current lens inventory is as follows:

- Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS (kit lens)
- Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM
- Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM
- Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS

Now, I'm in love with my 100mm macro lens, so I don't think I'll ever sell that. If I do, it won't be for a very long time. But, I was thinking of upgrading my telephoto zoom lens. I have my eye on the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM.

To help fund that purchase, I was thinking of selling my 85mm f/1.8 and EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 lenses. Now, I know I would be taking a hit on the aperture size on my 85mm (going from 1.8 to 2.8), but the glass quality would be much better, and I am considering investing in a 50mm f/1.8 II in case I'm in a pinch and can't use my flash.

What do you all think of that idea?

yeah..sounds like a good plan to me.

the f/1.8 will fill the hole for massive aperture and its super cheap.
the 70-200 is a brilliant piece of glass and still covers your previous focal range up to 200..

cant go wrong, but you'd still have to put a ton of dosh into the upgrade..
but it will be worth it.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking as far as the 50mm f/1.8 goes.

I'd be taking a little bit of a hit on the range of focal lengths. I would lose out on 201-250mm. But, I really don't think I would mind all that much. I've had the 55-250mm for quite some time, and I have taken a handful (maybe two) of photos in the 201-250mm range. I even thought about the 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS lens but have found out that the lens isn't all that great.

Perhaps I'll restrict myself to 70-200mm on my telephoto lens for a few days to see how I like that range.

EDIT: And, yes, I know I'll still have to shell out a good chunk of change for the lens. That's why it won't be for a little while yet. The sooner the better!
