I'm probably upgrading from CS2 to CS4 and read that photoshop can come with a copy of lightroom 2. What exactly does it do? I aslo have PS Elements 8 so i want to make sure i dont get 2 of the same.
Also, any recommendations for a website that has good prices on CS4? Thanks R. |

Lightroom lets you directly post-process (non-destructively) on RAW files, and is a workflow took for photograph cataloging. I'd highly recommend downloading the demo from the Adobe website and playing with it to see what it is.

I just use the Camera Raw section of Photoshop for my RAW editing. Lightroom also "helps" organize photos: I dont need the help, thanks.

I have both CS4 and Lightroom 2. I find that do nearly 90% of my processing in Lightroom, with CS4 being used only for the most detail oriented work such as cloning or other pixel level manipulation. Lightroom has greatly sped up how I work with my images. However, I will admit that it might not be for everyone. Adobe Bridge, which comes with Photoshop, is also a good organizational manager which works better for some people than Lightroom.
Try both Bridge and Lightroom out. There are free trials available on the Adobe website.
