Default nikon d3000 and Sigma 70-300mm f4.0-5.6 DG / HSM Lens

hello everyone, im new to the forums and to digital dslr, i have recently purchased a nikon d3000,and iam confused as to what lenses i can buy, i was looking at the "Sigma 70-300mm f4.0-5.6 DG / HSM Lens" i was wondering if all the camera settings work with this lens ie. the manual shutter and aperature setting, thanks in advance cant wait to start sharing photos

Your camera will work fine with this lens, as HSM is Sigma's name for what Nikon calls AF-S - which means there is a focus motor in the lens. Just make sure if you get it that you buy one with a Nikon mount I would suggest the Nikon 70-300 AF-S VR lens instead - it is a much better lens.

thanks Kirbinster,i will have a look at that other lens dont really ahve that much money after buying the camera, but when quality counts i suppose i can stretch the budget,thanks again

The good thing about lenses is that they hold their value - especially good ones. Cameras are like any other consumer electronics - they drop in value very fast, but not good glass.
