Default Help! Need to make a decision

Hi All,

I just recently bought a Nikon D3000, but I'm really thinking that I should have got a D90. Should i go with my gut and return the D3000 and buy the D90. I'm new to photography but i really want something that's a little more better. Is the D90 still a good camera for beginners? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You should probably return it and get a Canon. Once you buy a Canon, there is no questioning whether you should have got another model!!!!

Sorry, can't help you on Nikons..

D3000 might be too much for beginner I would go with D90

Hang on there, Pilgrim! Dems fightin' words! Nikon VS Canon is a long lived controversy, that may never see an end...!

Welcome to DPS, Dlos! Anyway, in my experience, whether it be cameras, dirt bikes, golf clubs, what have you...if you know you're going to be advancing, always buy a little bit more than you need right now.....so you can GROW INTO IT! You have nowhere to go but up....whereas, if you buy down, the equipment will hold you back, and you'll just trade up anyway, selling your old gear on Ebay for a fraction. You'll always be wishing you had gotten that extra bell or whistle.... My two cents!

Jim

I have a D90....with a lot to learn and I love it. It is much heavier than a D40, I'm not familiar with the one you have.

Thanks equilution, that's just what i needed to hear. I'll be taking back my D3000 tomorrow and getting a D90. I previously owned the Nikon D40 and i loved that camera, the only regret i have was selling it, but at least i sold it to some good friends.

i felt the same when i bought my d300,have i spent way to much on a camera that i will never use half of the features? was what i asked myself. well as time went on i found that i went from auto to manual and have used heaps of the other settings and tried so many things that i would not have tried on a lesser camera.i feel my undersanding of photography has improved also ,i still have alot to learn but its all part of the fun
