Default Cokin filters on wide angle help?

Cokin Z-Pro ND Grad Filter Kit (U960) - Fast UK Mainland Delivery

Can anyone tell me if the above cokin filters will cause any problems on m,y Canon 10-22mm wide angle lense?

Looks like you will need the x-pro for the 10mm end

There is also the "wide angle P holder" from Cokin, which holds only one filter and thus is thinner. Check Wide angle 10-20mm lens and Cokin P holder - Photo.net Canon EOS Forum for more knowledge.

The P holders are more narrow than the pro holders, and likely to cause vignetting at 10mm. I have a problem with them at 14mm, so I generally just hold them in front of the lens.

If you actually read the page that I linked to you'll read the testimony of someone who has used the wide angle P holder (note that I'm talking about the wide angle version, not the regular holder) and that it didn't cause any vignetting using the Canon 10-22mm at 10mm.

And if you actually read the link you'll find testimony that says the P holder does in fact cause vignetting on the Canon 10-22. And both of the people that said they got it to work without vignetting had to modify it, something many people don't want to do.

*sigh* here is the quote:

Quote:
I have the Canon 10-22mm and the regular "P" Coking holder combination which does vignette. There is a wide angle version of the Cokin "P" holder however which I also have (from B&H). The wide angle one has the inner slot for the polarizer and one single "slide" slot for a regular rectangular P filter. The wide angle Cokin does not vignette with a regular P Cokin filter like a ND grad with the Canon 10-22mm at 10mm.
Yes, the regular P causes vignetting, the wide angle version and the modified P do not. Can you please accept that there is a wide angle version of the P holder and stop moaning about the regular one?

I'm not moaning about anything. I know there's a wide angle P holder, I own one. And here's the rest of the quote, which you conveniently left out.

Quote:
The wide angle Cokin does not vignette with a regular P Cokin filter like a ND grad with the Canon 10-22mm at 10mm. It does vignette with the Cokin polarizer however(the CP is too thick). I did have to sand the corners down a little bit to fit the Cokin modular hood on the wide angle holder. The wide angle version is the old style, not the newer curved style of the regular one.
So if you use a Circular Polarizer with it, or intend to stack filters, you'll get vignetting. All of this is irrelevant though, since the OP didn't ask about the P folder, he asked about the Z-pro holders.

Ooops, didn't mean to cause an argument chaps but none the less, thanks both for your input. I hadn't realised there was a thinner wide angle holder so thats an option if I dont buy the Z Pro.
thanks Carl

Cokin does make a wide angle filter holder, but despite the one claim in the thread posted above, plenty of people complain of vignetting with it on the Canon 10-22mm at 10mm. See this thread: Flickr: Discussing Which Cokin-holder to choose? P or X? in Canon EF-S 10-22

I have used mine on a Tokina 12-24mm and had serious issues at the wide end with the P size filters, especially if I've stacked both a CP and ND. If you can afford it, I would suggest starting with one of the larger holder systems for wide angle lenses.
