Default noise reduction software for Mac

I am struggling with ugly noise almost every time I go higher then 200, so I would like to try some affordable/even free () software for reducing noise (for Mac).

WHAT are you using? WHY was this your choice?

Thank you so much!

For RAW files, I use ufraw, the price is right ($0)! I believe ufraw can be installed on a Mac but it apparently involves some command line work:

It ain't free, but the most fantastical noise reduction software I've ever used is Noise Ninja.

I use it on my PC, but it also comes in Mac flavours as a standalone app.

Hope that helps!

If you have photoshop from CS onwards-this is even more fantastic than "Noise Ninja";"Neat Image";Noiseware";"Grain Surgery", etc,and doesn't look plasticky.

- Noise (Chroma-colour noise)

- Image> Mode> LAB Colour> Channels
Channel “a” Gaussian blur 5 pixels
Channel “b” Gaussian blur 5 pixels
Channel “lightness” Filter> noise> despeckle
Image> Mode> RGB colour

-Noise (Luma -Grainy noise)

-lasso area and apply smart blur at default setting (For small areas)
-Or Ctrl+J
-Smart blur-Then eraser tool to expose background features

Regards, Ken

Thank you guys for your replies!

Kencaleno, I didn't know about those steps. I am using Photoshop Elements though... Do you think there is something similar for PSE?
