Default Reviewing photos on the road

When I'm away I like to take lots of photos and delete around 75% of them. Problem is the screen on my camera is too small to accurately assess the shots, so I've been using a PDA. But my new camera takes photos that are too big for it to handle, so I'm looking for a replacement.
What do other people do? I don't really want to take a computer in my backpack cause it's too heavy. Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Kikeena

Here are a couple of examples of what you are looking for.

Wolverine

Epson

You'll pay a premium price for the ability of playback. You can also get some of these that don't have the playback ability but they will store your shots off-camera & then you can delete them when you get home & upload them to your computer.

A net book is probably the best way to go. You can get some that have massive hard drives to download the images off the card before deleting there for removing the risk of corrupting the card. And they weigh about the same as a photoviewer. That being said I have an old epson P2000 photoviewer. I got it long before netbooks were made or I would have went that route. Although I must say that the new photoviewers are pretty nice with the solid state drives...... still would get the netbook since you can do a lot more with it than just store and view photos.

Hi,
A netbook that's what I started using on my last vacation.
Worked very well to copy & review the pictures at night.
But did not installed Lightroom or Photoshop...to slow.
I am using Irfanview to check mainly for focus, reasonnable color & if the picture is generally good.
Then I do a backup on a small portable hard drive to have an extra copy of my pictures.
And place that hard drive in the room safe if one is available or carry with me at all times

Thanks for those thoughts on a netbook. That is what I've been thinking. But I'd still prefer a PDA. Because it's 1kg or 2lbs lighter. Do you know any that take an SD card, or SD card reader?

Default Hyperdrive or Wolverine?

I'm in the market for one of those devices as well. I looked up info about the Wolverine and Hyperdrive. Either one of them should be great to bring to Europe for my trip. Anyone uses these and can give some advice which one is better??
Also, what about those netbooks?? Never thought of that. Better/more options than these two back-up devices? These are actually pc's? I am 'all Mac' but doesnt matter if its just to backup photos while on vacation?

Default Netbook

I own and use an Asus EeePC. Its pretty great to grab a little bit of internet on the go. It has a built in SD card reader.
The problem is the tiny screen, I wouldn't want to use it to go through a large number of shots. In terms of backup you data would only be protected if you kept a copy on an flash card AND the netbook. Otherwise all your eggs are in one basket, so to speak.

Thanks for these thoughts. I've decided to get a Toshiba NB205 and am very happy about that.

Let us know how you like it......am still in doubt whether to go with a netbook (neat! But do I use it as often when I'm back from my trip?) or a Hyperdrive 160 Gb. I love to show slideshows btw. Any other costs except the purchase with this netbook, I mean any software cuz "I am Mac" and don't know PCs.

my personal opinion -

buy alot of memory cards. this way you can keep all the photos.

but you have to wait till you get to a computer. but at least you have all the photos

i understand what your asking, but my opinion is to keep em all and wait, then view and sort them later. it is best to to do this, because ya never know what you may get, and you might accidentally delete "that shot" that you wanted, but wasn't able to properly view it on the road.
