Looked at some notebooks. I actually start to like them, because I can do some writing, checking emails and so.
A few come with software. I would like to see my RAW photos (but I understand there is a free software to download for that, Irfanview or something?) and also, if I have a notebook, might as well do some writing. So Microsoft Word or Text edit would be great too. Do most notebooks come with software? (I have Mac computers) If thats not the case, well, then I pay about 350 Can.dlrs plus software which is equal or even more compare to a Hyperdrive. Can anyone help me out, so i can decide this week what to do? |

Get the netbook. It will give you the most in the way of flexability since it is in fact a mini laptop. Different netbooks come with different software but pretty much all of them will have some kind of text editors none of them will have photoshop standard however. I would recommend getting a program like Lightroom to view and organize the photos. Also you can shoot tethered with a netbook with you can not do with most photo viewers.

Just found out in the store that if I would get a notebook, it does NOT come with any software than just a trial version. Then if I like to install LR or any software I would need an external CD/DVD writer (130 dlrs) Nah!
Hyperdrive or.....yeah just a lot of memory cards. |

Tks guys for highlighting this as I hadn't thought of all the risks, I'm going to consider another method.

I actually have a photoviewer that I use as backup but I also have a ton of memory cards. I dont delete on the road but use the photoviewer to backup on the road. If they had netbooks when I got the photoviewer I would have gotten that instead.
I ALWAYS have two copies of my photos. Not having a backup is just asking for trouble in my opinion.

I have decided to get the Acer Aspire One 8.9", yep a small one but always bigger than my Nikon camera display. It's going to be a travel device mostly to backup my memory cards. Yep and internet is bonus! Most of my editing I will do that at home on my 24" iMac!
