Default Free Software / Tutorials

There's another "Free Software" thread that I found on here, but it's over a year old and didn't really go anywhere.

I know a bunch of people here use GIMP and other software, and I'd like to compile a list and keep it updated.

Also useful would be tutorials! There have been a few times when a Photoshop tutorial translated decently to GIMP, but there have been times when it absolutely did not, and any tutorials I have found for GIMP have been not very good (either way more complex, didn't seem to do exactly what a Photoshop tutorial would do, etc...)

I'll start this off and try to keep it updated.

Cross Platform:
The GIMP (Windows/OS X/Linux)
http://www.gimp.org/
http://www.gimp.org/macintosh/
Free, open-source image manipulator. Very powerful, not so easy to use if you're used to Photoshop.

GIMPShop (Windows/OS X/Linux)
http://www.gimpshop.com/
Free, open-source. GIMP with a face lift. It is literally the same code base as The GIMP, but with a customized GUI to better match Photoshop.

Hugin (Windows/OS X/Linux)
http://hugin.sourceforge.net/
Hugin is a piece of open source software that focuses on panorama stitching, but can also be used for exposure blending and HDR techniques. There are several tutorials and a lot of documentation available on the website.

Linux:
Using Linux for Photography, where we stand (2008)
A pretty good article about Photography on Linux in general. A good blog for Linux photography.
Where We Stand

Qtpfsgui
http://qtpfsgui.sourceforge.net/
Qtpsfgui is a HDR image creator. It's built with the QT graphics library, but requires very few dependencies. Ubuntu Hardy has the latest version in the repositories, not sure about any other distros (feel free to inform me). I only used it once with images that shouldn't have been attempted. It is very easy to use. See some examples at the Flickr group.
