Wired had an article recently about three of the best camera bags. The first bag they discuss doesn't seem to scream "I'm a camera bag". Though at $500 US, it ain't cheap.

If you don't want it to look like a camera bag, your best bet is not to use one. Maybe visit an outdoors store, such as REI, pick up something you like and add dividers to it?
Thanks inkista & JMS, I think the ZING might be my best option and possibly include an insert as well. I have a pack from REI actually and thing this might be the best option. I can then still pack other stuff during my travels and it will provide the discretion I am looking for. Thanks everyone.

Default Kata Dr-467

I spent several days reading websites and going to local photo shops to decide on a backpack to be used on my upcoming trip to Europe. I finally decided on the KATA DR467 because it seems to be well designed, fits all my stuff handily and doesn't have a big impressive name on the outside.

After a week of carrying it around, I love it. Since I haven't seen that name in this thread, you might want to check on it.

How about a soft side cooler?
Plastic lined and padded.

That's exactly what I was looking for when I picked up the Crumpler 2 Million Dollar bag. Big enough to fit my D40 with the 18-55mm lens with a few front pockets to fit wallet/SD card holder/etc.

I use the 2 Million Dollar bag when I'm out and about and want to carry just my camera (like around town) and not the whole kit and kaboodle.

Based on my experience with the 2 Million Dollar bag, I will pick up a bigger Crumpler bag/pack when I need to travel and carry everything (extra lenses, charger, etc).

Does the 2 Million Dollar Crumpler have room for the D4O and a longer zoom? I have the 18-200 and would love a snug case just for the lens & camera.

Thanks, Bill

They have a larger one, that holds a laptop as well.

Default Finally a bag.

I ended up going with the Tamrac Aero 80 3380 in the rust color. It was a little more than I was expecting to pay, but after cutting off the Tamrac labels, it will suit its purpose just right. It will get its first true test in a couple of weeks on a trip and we will see how the extra space works. Thanks to all for your guidance and help.
