Thanks for the opinion Sara!

Now that Canon has announced the Rebel XSi, it might be awhile before I earn the money for it, as well as the Tamron lens (which I presume should also fit onto the XSi?)

hi , I have a Canon 400D with 18-55mm kit lens. I would like to buy a wide angle & a zoom lens. Having considered various brands, especially as Canon L series lenses are cost prohibitive for my budget & level of photography, I m wanting to consider buying a Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 & a Tamron 28-300mm VC DI lenses. Could anyone having some experience in evaluating these lenses advise if this is a good choice considering the price. Would appreciate if you can highlight the pluses & minuses on the above lenses to help me arrive at a decision. Any alternative lenses in the above range & price would be highly appreciated.

When one is reading comments of pro photographers and the 'glass' that they use, beginners like me get frustrated as to where to start spending money on lenses!! This is a good start to at least have a road map in place for purchase of lenses which will move along with upgrade on cameras in future. Thanks.
