Default Best compact flash?

I just bought a Canon 7d (I have a 450d but was time to upgrade) and I need to buy some compact flash memory.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

The Kingston 16gb Ultimate Compact Flash Card 266x looks good with 45MB/sec. read and 40MB/sec. write speeds, but not sure if that's a good choice or not?

Also I lot have x 133 or 400x but I dont really understand what this figure means?

Ya I would of said San Disk Extremes. I had a 8 gig Kingston that corrupted on me the night before a wedding. I rushed out and got 2 4gig SanDisk Extreme III cards. I have never been disappointed by it. They are my production cards.

Ahh that's not good about the Kingston! I have used Kingston SD's for a while and never had a problem, but SanDisk seems to have the best rep so looks like I made the best choice for my flash memory cards

Funny... I've had problems with a couple of SanDisks, and I've got three different Kingstons now that have been rock-solid. Bought two from lensrentals.com for a bargain price, and they're great.

I guess all makes can have a small number of failures, sounds like you had a bit of bad luck there tho!

I noticed the Kingston Flash Card comes with recovery software should anything go wrong so I've purchased one of those too.

£80 spent on 3 cards + £1,000 on a 7D + £210 on insurance = a very expensive day for me

You and a lot of people in all fairness. If you're shooting jobs for decent amounts of cash it's worth having the piece of mind that you trust the make of your equipment.

On that subject, be careful of what and where you buy your cards.
SanDisk are (arguably) the most reliable. They are also the most copied!
There are ways to know the difference (must be somewhere on their web site) but small shops and many web outlets are the most risky for that.
