There are ways to know the difference (must be somewhere on their web site) but small shops and many web outlets are the most risky for that.
Thanks for the warning... I bought mine from Amazon so I'm hoping they are legit, although with Amazon it's hard to tell these days as to where they are actually coming from.

My name is Andrew Rodger and I'm a PR representative of Lexar. After reading the rest of this thread it looks like you're all set with your choice of memory cards. However, I wanted to address the "x speed" question you posted.

The "x" represents 150KB per second transfer speed and comes from the early days of CD-ROM speeds. When paired with a number, you multiply it by 150KB per second and you get the transfer speeds. For example, 133x is equal to about 20MB per second transfer speed, 400x is equal to about 60MB per second, etc.

One thing to be careful of when considering transfer speeds is whether the card promises "up to" that number, or if it's a minimum guaranteed speed. I hope that helps.
