The other thing is that the nikon 50mm af-d lenses have a fairly short focus throw, if you go older, to the ai-s lenses, you can find nikon 50mm lenses that have a longer focus throw. Which may or may not be important to you for video. (I don't do video, so I don't know) I do have multiple 50mm lenses, and know the design hasn't changed much, but the af-d have better coatings and control abberations better.
