Default Missing CD-Rom for Canon SX230 HS

I was lucky enough to find a used Canon SX230 HS on Ebay and get it for a reasonable price. Unfortunately, the seller does not have the CD-Rom for the camera. I found some on Ebay but I am unsure which to buy as they do not specify which camera they are for and are different versions. I am new to digital cameras and don't know if these are universal to all Canons or specific to each model of camera. I am currently using a Macbook but do have a PC with Vista on it also. Any info on this would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

All the CD-ROM has on it is the software/drivers and, in some cases, the manual as a .pdf. The software packages arent much use unless you're completely computer illiterate.

Canon U.S.A. : Support & Drivers : PowerShot SX230 HS

Click "Drivers and Software", right side below the picture. You can download the drivers from there for the camera. Click "Brochures and Manuals" for the instructions

Default Missing CD-rom

Thanks for the info. Could I use Picasa instead or do I still need the drivers for the camera from Canon? Thanks again.

Not completely true. If the software includes Canon's Digital Photo Professional, it's one of the better RAW converters around (assuming that the SX230 will do RAW - I don't know). People who have used both say it's just as good as Adobe Camera Raw, many even prefer it to ACR. And from what I've read, it can only be obtained from the disk that comes with the camera - it's not downloadable. A lot of users also really like the Canon Zoom Browser photo management software, although I've never gotten much out of it.
