These things tend to be very expensive, with only one or two exceptions. Is there anything to be gained by getting one of the cheaper models, i.e. Flashpoint, Induro? Or do those cause more disappointments than learning experiences?
I think I would like a Gimbal type head for a 7D, Sigma 150-500mm and occasionally a 2x TC combo. Would be used mostly for bird and wildlife photography. But..... but...... but...... I don't want to spend $500 - $600 dollars for one and then find out it is more of a headache than it is worth. The $250 - $300 range is much more appealing.

Thanks for the input Jon. I'm waffling on whether to go for something like the Induro, or the Jobu Micro Gimbal. Last night I was adding up the weight of all the various components of my typical setup (7D, Grip, batteries, heaviest lens, teleconverter, etc.) and I think the Jobu can handle that with a little room to spare.
Hmmmmmmmmm.............

Mike... I went through about the same thought process and looked at them on the Adorama website. Finally, I went into a camera store that had the Wemberly and Induro heads. First, I looked closely at the Induro GHBA head that attaches to a ballhead and just wasn't comfortable with it. Next I looked at the Induro GHB2 and then the Wemberly (not sure what model). After holding both and examining them, I selected the Induro over the Wemberly mainly because I couldn't see a $120 difference. I did buy a longer Wemberly mounting plate for the Canon 500m because it gives more sliding room for adjustment on the head and mounted the plate that came with the Induro on one of my other lens

Well, I almost ordered the Jobu Micro today and then backed off. Don't want to spend that much and then end up wanting something better a few weeks from now. Going to be thinking about this for a bit longer.
Heard anything good or bad about the Jobu Junior? It is a little more like a full blown Gimbal head, only smaller. I think it is rated to handle up to 10 pounds total and that would exceed my setup by a little over a pound.
