Hi,
I am a new member and to date, just a point and shot photographer. I am using a Kodak Z 1012 IS and a little Nikon S4000. I plan to purchase a new "good" camera in the near future and get a bit more serious. Question: I have "from a previous life" a Minolta Maxxum 5000 and some nice lenses in the closet. One being the af 70-210 beer can. Can these lenses be used on new digital cameras? I think it may be a silly question, but I know they are good from what I have read. Should I just try to sell them and get all new, or try to purchase a camera that would accept them. (if possible) Thanks for your help. I look forward to exploring this entire site. Pat |

IIRC Maxxum is the same mount as current Sony Alpha

Are there lens adapters available for that Minolta? That could potentially open up a few more possibilities.

Given that the registration distance for Sony Alpha/Minolta AF is only .5mm thicker than Canon EOS, it's unlikely that you could adapt for any of the main dSLR mounts, other than four-thirds. You'd have to look at adapters for mirrorless compact systems.
