Default Flash Batteries

Hey everybody, pretty simple question here.

I'm just looking to see what kind of batteries you use in your flash, what brand. I'm looking for a rechargeable battery that has a good lifespan.

I've heard really good things about the Sanyo Eneloop batteries, and I know they're a lot better than Energizer, which have a crappy lifespan. But I'm wondering if there's a brand of rechargeables that are even better.

I use the Sanyo Eneloops and energizers with no issues. But on the same note I bought a battery charger that re-conditions the batteries (takes about a week per set).

I use Eneloops and Powerex 2700s exclusively. The 2700s will give you more full power pops before starting to misfire, but the Eneloops will keep their charge over a longer period of non-use.

digirebelva - Thanks for the reply. What kind of charger are you using? That might be something I'd be interesting in upgrading as well.

Mike - Sounds like they're both good in different situations. After two posts giving a +1 to the Eneloops, it looks like that's what I'm going get for now.

Thanks for the replies. As always, it's appreciated

Eneloops here, and I use a LaCrosse "übercharger" (as the Strobist termed it), although I went lower-end (I'm fine with lower currents NOT causing a fire hazard ) and got a BC-700. The Strobist article is old and refers to an out-of-date model, so today the equivalent would probably be the BC-1000.

Inkista, thanks for the link! Had to do a little searching for it since Amazon appears to be out, but it sounds like a great charger. I'm looking at the BC-9009 for $44.95. Not too bad.

I use PowerGenix NiZn...
I really like them.... some have read/and worry that they can recycle too fast and burn up your flash. But the same is true of using an external battery pack. I find they hold a charge longer and recycle quicker than NiCd/NiMh and they are environmentally friendly. I just wish there was a "better" charger for them.

I'd go for the BC-1000 ($60) or BC-700 ($45). Less chance of spontaneous combustion. The BC-9009 got replaced by the BC-900, which got replaced by the BC-1000. The BC-900 was known to have some issues when used on the higher current settings. Just plow through the Amazon reviews.
