Is it making good contact with the hotshoe on the camera and the feet on the flash?

I'm at a loss then. It might be a bad unit?

What do you mean by "misfire"? Does it fire at all?
Could very easily be full output flash and the required long recycle times.

Yeah, can't tell from your description what kind of behavior we're talking about. Is it not firing? Firing at the wrong time? "badly misfires" covers a ton of different things. Are you using it full-power? TTL? Manual? How are you triggering? On-camera/off-camera?

Personally, if it's simply not firing and burned out, and you have an earlier model with the plastic hotshoe, rather than the metal one, chances are you've got a bad capacitor. This can be fixed, if you're good with electronics, know how to solder/desolder, and can safely discharge a capacitor (if you don't, you could kill yourself (or at least get a nasty shock), so don't fake it, or try to do this as a first-timer).

Here's how someone who had the right tools and savvy fixed his YN-468.

This is not for most people. I'd actually recommend getting a replacement unit, unless you're experienced with surface-mounting electronic components. The YN-468 is cheap as speedlights go. Also, Yongnuo has apparently improved the design and their manufacturing, so the newer metal-foot versions tend not to have this issue. If your unit is still under warranty, send it in.

There is a reason the pricetags on these things are so low.

it fires when my flash gun wants to fire, i tested in TTL, M, S1 it's all the same behavior. yesterday i tested again fresh charge eneloop xx, first shot my flash gun fire then recycle time green light turns red light ready to burst and i give an allowance 7seconds for total recycle time second shot no fire, third shot did not fire again, forth did not fire again, fifth shot it fire, and so on.. i think it fires randomly.., i have a background on electronics maybe i can dissect my flashgun hahaha!
