Default Canon 100mm macro vs 24-70mm L (Need Opinion)

Hey Guys,

I need opinions about my recent purchases. I recently purchased 24-70mm f2.8L and 100mm f2.8 Macro (Non L). I have 2 other lense already 50mm f1.8 and 28-135mm f3.5-5.6. I am planning to sell the 28-135mm as I got the 24-70mm. I am using Canon 60D.

Questions:
1. is it redundant to have both 24-70mm and 100mm macro? I know they are serving different purposes (the macro can be use as portrait as well). Is it good to have both lense?
2. What filter should I use on the 100mm? I heard that Circular Polarizer filter will be suitable for this particular lense.
3. Same question for the 24-70mm. When I bought the 24-70mm, I got CP Filter original from canon (Canon 77mm PL-C II). Is this a good filter for the lense?
4. What type of hood should I get (if it is needed) for the 100mm? I read about the collapsible rubber hood. Is this any good?
5. Any legitimate accessories that is necessary to get macro pic?

What interest me:
1. Wildlife photography/Outdoor photography (Buildings, plants and animals including insects)
2. Food Identity (I like taking pictures of my meals)

Thanks in advance for your opinions. I am a newbie and has a lot to learn.

(1) Yes, given your shooting interests.

(2/3 ) If needed and that is subject dependant, With DSLRs always circular polarisers, ND & ND grad.

(4) I always use the Canon lens hoods. If you can find a rubber one that is the depth then that would probably be ok as well.

(5) For macro's you can shoot hand held, however you may find a tripod, remote release, focussing rails (to make focussing and framing subjects a lot easier) and additional lighting (reflector or flash) very helpful or even necessary.

Keep in mind some of these tools can be used for non macro subjects.
If possible do not buy any any accessories until you find you need it,

1. You asked two questions here, but I'd say it would be good to have them both. If you want to do macro, then the 100mm is a must since the 24-70 can't do macro.

2. For shooting macro, you probably won't need/want to use a filter. You'll need a lot of light, and a CP or ND will cut that down. Those filters are more for landscape type shots or when you need a slower shutter speed.

3. If this is the lens you'll be using for your general shooting, getting a CP and a couple ND filters wouldn't be a bad idea. I've heard the Canon filters aren't that great. Stick with a good brand like B+W or Heliopan. Good filters aren't cheap and cheap filters aren't good.

4. I also use the Canon hoods. Check the specs of each lens for the right hood (the 24-70 should have one, as it's an L lens).

5. A tripod is a must. I've done a bit of hand held shooting with my 100 f/2.8 and it's not the best. Camera shake is very evident on a macro lens since you're so close to your subject. I'm using my recently purchased Manfrotto 055XPROB and like it so far for macro stuff. Focusing rails are helpful, but I don't have them. Might get some later if I feel the need. A remote release is also helpful, but not necessary as you can use the timer on the camera.

For your shooting interests, I'd also look into getting a telephoto for wildlife photography as you don't currently have one.
