Default Flash Advice

I am looking at buying a flash unit for wildlife and/or portrait photography. I have a budget of about $150 or so. Any advice as to which would be a good one?

Thanks.

Look at Nissin and Yungnuo. I don't have either, but my dad uses Nissin and likes it.

You need to figure out what you want and need with the flash - ETTL/TTL capabilities, manual controls and of course, it needs to be compatible with your camera body which, by the way, you haven't mentioned the type and model of what you have.

You shoudl advice what your camera is and the model so that people can advice further on this matter.

Cheers,

Grace

I "Had" a Youngnou 560.. The new one is 565.. It's compatible with both Canon and Nikon and has iTTL and CLS compatability.. I say "Had" because I dropped it and broke it.. But it's good enough for someone on a budget..

If you shoot with a Nikon and can find a S/hand SB800 or SB600 for that price you'll not be unhappy.

If you shoot with a Nikon, these are the best prices I've seen for Speedlights.

I have a Canon T3 and I take a lot of pictures of my son inside since it's winter. What would be a good flash to buy to help get more natural looking pictures than the on-board flash?? Thanks!

Sorry, I've been on sites where people get annoyed for starting new threads asking the same questions as a few threads below and they get all annoyed and say we already answered that... starting new thread...

For flash photography of wildlife I'd recommend getting a Better Beamer as well:

"Better Beamer" Flash Extenders - The NatureScapes.Net Store

It works amazingly well for such a strange-looking contraption.
