Starting today my canon 17-85 has a piece of dust on the what looks like the 4/5th element. It also showing up in photos. (See pic) This happened while I was cleaning my sensor (DustAid did a amazing job - but I did use up all my pads ;-)) None of my other lenses show anything and the 17-85 does this on my 20D as well. Oh, and I can see it if I look through the lens.
So, besides the obvious (Sending it to Canon for a obscene amount of money). Is there anything I can do about this? Thanx [IMG] [/IMG]

I'm surprised it's so noticeable on the image. I have a few lenses with dust inside (just part of owning and switching several different lenses), but have never noticed it on the actual image. At what aperture does it become noticeable, or is it noticeable through the entire range?
I'm not sure if anyone else could offer and real solutions, but dust spots are such an incredibly easy fix these days, and as long as there aren't a ton of them, I just wouldn't worry about it. |
