Question Help suggest a bag for my D40 + Zoom

I've been looking to replace my current camera bag as it's getting a little worn. (A Tamrac Express, I'm not sure which one) I take my camera out hiking and urban exploring, so I prefer something convenient and light. Here's the gear it would need to fit:

D40 with 35mm prime lens
55-200
SB-400 flash
Battery charger and small accessories.

If there is a little additional room for something like a flashlight/snack/ipad it would be nice but not necessary. A clip for attaching a tripod would also be helpful but I don't see many options with those. I don't want to get a huge bag since I don't really need it.

I've been looking at a Case logic Medium SLR bag and a Case Logic SLR Sling but I've read reviews about them being cramped, awkward or uncomfortable, and the strap breaking. I don't feel confident about many of the bags I've found so any suggestions would be appreciated.

A thinkTankphoto Retrospective 10 could work quite well!

Sime, feel free to PM me about this: i find it odd to have someone essentially working for a manufacturer posting this kind of information. I've seen it from you for the 3LeggedThing and ThinkTank bags. It's not an attack of any kind, just an issue of conflict of interest.

To the OP: I've always liked Lowepro bags. They have a great bag-finger option for you. http://bagfinder.lowepro.com/lp/choose-profile

Feel free to PM you, why, you seem happy enough to call me out on NOTHING, right here?

For a start, I don't work for 3LeggedThing??? And thinkTank are a client. I use their gear and have done for years... (If you did your research, you'd know the first place I reviewed one of their bags was on DPS Blog?!!) ...the op wanted advice on a bag that someone has used and would recommend, that's what I did... didn't offer a discount code, didn't provide a link... And, frankly, I'm not sure who died and made you god of forum etiquette?

Consider this, Adam, if I were a spammer - I'd have provided a link...

Here's something else - you want to complain about something you see in the forum, use the contact form in my signature - if I get swearing from you, via my personal Twitter account once more - I will report you to Twitter.

I hope this is clear enough for you to understand.

Simon

This part was confusing. I dont know where it came from.

As for the rest of it: there have been several instances where you've shilled 3LeggedThing and ThinkThank products in threads with links. It came off odd.

Happy to post the DM if you'd like... I don't want to see DM's in my personal twitter account from people complaining about the forum... Signature -> Contact Form

And...

Still fail to see your point, Adam?? I use 3LT tripods - I like them, they're cheaper than my Manfrotto, work the same and are better looking... why wouldn't I tell people they're good? Same goes for the thinkTank bags - I use them EVERY DAY... I am the FIRST person to tell someone when something works, or doesn't.... and you're here telling me that it's ODD... Why???? I use the R10... it's a great bag...

You know the most trusted consumer source when buying a product? Family or close friends - second is HERE on the forums with recommendations from REAL PEOPLE that use the products... Why D'ya think the guy asked? Why did you suggest Lowepro? Should I ban you for spamming?... oh wait, you were just being helpful... though, I suggested a bag I actually use, rather than a configuration tool....

Why do I waste my time.

Sorry about the rant, OP... You asked for a bag suggestion, I gave one...

I look after social media for thinkTankPhoto and am a user of their bags - I'm not a salesman. But what suits you.

Things like this seem spammy. No real information, just "Look, a product! Here's where you can buy it"

Things like this would be best on the front news page or in the newsletter, not in the forums. It'd also be better if it wasn't "A NEW BAG AND A DISCOUNT CODE" but just "A DPS Discount code!". You're ADVERTISING that they have a new bag. And if ThinkTank is paying for you to, a disclaimer would be appropriate.

Posts like this, while you included a disclaimer, aren't suitable for the forums. As you said, people come to the forums looking for genuine advice, not people shilling products that endorse them.

Hell, I REPORTED that lens band thread using the "Report Post" button and never heard a thing. Not even a smartypants remark in my PERSONAL EMAIL, which is so often the case when I report posts. I mean, if we're airing out personal communication and all.

ADDENDUM: "Looking after social media for ThinkTank" is rhetoric for "work for ThinkTank".

You're still wasting my time.

I help to manage the forums Adam, I run customer service. I know that Lens Band has approached us for a review, and we've decided not to post it on the blog, but to post it in the forum - that is my call. Not yours. That is why you don't hear anything. It was a straight up, non affiliate link (though, still non of your business if it was)

thinkTank set up a referral code for DPS, DPS earns money from people buying product through the dPS link... You may be 23, so you still know everything - have a stab at how much it costs to host dPS a year... go on...

If I post links to a; help get dPS some referral money and b; help people get an extra free bag on their purchase - please, tell me, what business is it of yours?

You keep batting on about 'what is suitable for the forums' ...Adam, Me and the moderators, along with feedback from the community decide what is suitable for the forums - spam isn't suitable for the forums. porn isn't suitable for the forums.

Help IS suitable for the forums. Discount codes where we can leverage them ARE suitable for the forums and PAYING the HOSTING is suitable for the forums.

Your feedback is appreciated, thanks.

Simon

Obviously not.

I will continue to report spammy posts as spam, regardless of where they come from.
