Default Which black rapid

I am thinking of a black rapid strap as a "from me - to me" Xmas present.

Not having them available here to check out, I need to input from those who use or have seen them.
is the 7 or the 4 the one to go for?
Mostly on the move, shooting movement / action.

I will use it either for a 1D mkiii or 5d mkii - with anything from a 17-40 to a 70-200 2.8.
(which is about as heavy as you can get before moving into the big superzooms.)

I've had my Black Rapid for a few years. I think it is a 4. Love it dearly, especially for carrying in crowded places. I used with a gripped 5DmII with everything from a 70-200 to a 50mm. I spent the first few weeks terrified the fastener would slip loose and my gear would go crashing to the ground. In a few years it's never so much as budged.

Spend some time getting the right fit. If you have the camera sitting on your hip it will bounce around a lot while you walk. I find it actually rides nicer with the heavier lenses attached. In my experience these kinds of slings work great if you can stay standing upright. If you have to bend over or make some other unusual moves the camera will slingshot forward. Like I said, my version is a few years old so maybe the new modular system addresses those issues.

Either way, definitely worth the investment.

I have the RS-7 and love it. Looks like the only difference is the curve in the shoulder pad in the 7 and a straight pad in the 4. Functionally they appear the same.

I have the RS-4 and love it...if I were buying another I'd probably get this one or this one.

The first is the RS4 and the second is the sun sniper version but imported direct from China....kind of sucks for the companies but I guess that's what happens when you don't have patents and have your stuff manufactured in China.

Thanks for this thread guys, esp. the Ebay links... I never thought to look there for some reason, and was about to drop an awful lot of money on the authentic versions.. instead I got the double sling and a single one for under $40 shipped...

...even if they turn out to be sh!t it was worth rolling the dice.

Sadly, they won't be shit...I almost wish they were.

Well Steve, you saved me about $140 today, so maybe that will soften the blow

yes, I have one. The " sport" version. I don't use it as much as my basic RS-4, but there's nothing wrong with it.

As luck would have it I bumped into the new local distributor.
I picked up the RS4.
The RS7 curve was nice, but lacked the pouches for a CF card / keys.
The RS 5 was very nice, but had too many pockets for me. It would be a struggle to fold it and fit it into a tightly packed bag.
