Tripod/Monopod suggestions

I have a older tripod, but I'm shopping for an upgrade. I'm interested in a tripod with a quick release with a quick reposition head: (I'm sure there's a technical term for this. I saw another photographer with a tripod where all he had to do was squeeze a handle to reposition.)

I'd like to purchase with the idea of a quick release that would also be compatible with a monopod.

Is there such a thing? What brand should I be researching?
